Platform Terminology Guide
Understanding the Language of the Platform
The following table sets out the key terms used within the Moorenvell platform and associated documentation. These definitions reflect how each term is used within the context of this service specifically. Some terms may carry different meanings in other digital or information-management contexts.
Reviewing this guide before using the platform for the first time, or before submitting an access request, may help users navigate the interface more confidently and phrase their enquiries more precisely.
| Term | Definition within Moorenvell |
|---|---|
| Category | A defined grouping of related information records within the platform. Categories are assigned by the system based on the type and subject matter of the information. Users navigate the platform primarily by selecting categories relevant to their enquiry. |
| Record | An individual item of information within a category. Each record contains one or more fields, each of which holds a specific piece of information associated with that record. Records are the primary unit of information within the platform's interface. |
| Field | A labelled element within a record that holds a specific piece of information. Fields are displayed using plain, readable labels. Where a field's content cannot be confirmed within the platform's scope, the field is marked as unconfirmed rather than left blank or filled with estimated content. |
| Access level | The permissions associated with a user's current interaction with the platform. Users without a confirmed access request may browse publicly navigable categories. Users who have submitted and had an access request reviewed may reach additional restricted areas. |
| Classification | The process by which the platform assigns information to categories and organises it within those categories. Classification is carried out within the system based on defined criteria and is reflected in how records appear within the interface. Users can review the classification applied to any record they can access. |
| Enquiry | A submitted message sent through the platform's enquiry form. An enquiry may be a general question, a request for clarification, or a formal request for access to a restricted area of the platform. All enquiries are reviewed by the Moorenvell support team. |
| Access request | A specific type of enquiry in which a user requests permission to reach a restricted category or area of the platform. Access requests are reviewed on their own merits, and submitting one does not constitute automatic approval. The support team responds with guidance following review. |
| Interface | The visual and navigational layer through which users interact with the platform's information. The interface is designed to present information consistently, using a defined layout and labelling convention that does not change between categories or between sessions. |
| Navigation | The structure of links, labels, and menu items through which users move between different sections and categories of the platform. Navigation within Moorenvell is predictable and consistent — the same path leads to the same area on each visit. |
| Scope | The defined range of information categories and record types covered by the platform at any given time. Information that falls outside the platform's current scope will not appear within the interface. The scope may be updated as the service develops, and current scope documentation is available through the platform. |
| Submission | A completed enquiry or access request form that has been sent through the platform's enquiry interface. Once submitted, a submission is routed to the support team for review. Users receive a response at the email address provided in the submission. |
| Review | The process by which the Moorenvell support team considers a submitted enquiry or access request. A review may result in a direct response, a request for further information, or a decision about whether to grant access to a restricted area of the platform. |
| Unconfirmed | A status applied to fields or records where the platform cannot confirm the accuracy or completeness of the information within its current scope. Unconfirmed fields are clearly labelled as such within the interface. Users should not treat unconfirmed information as independently verified. |
| Publicly navigable | A category or area of the platform that is accessible to any user who visits the site, without the need to submit an access request. Publicly navigable areas are available immediately upon visiting the relevant part of the interface. |
Notes for First-Time Users
If you are accessing the Moorenvell platform for the first time, the following notes may help you orient yourself before navigating the interface.
Begin by reviewing the system overview page, which explains how information is organised and presented. The functions page describes each capability in detail, including how to navigate categories and review individual records.
Reviewing a Category
Select a category from the navigation to see the records it contains. Each record displays its available fields using readable labels. Fields that fall outside the confirmed scope are marked accordingly.
Requesting Access
If you encounter an area that requires an access request, navigate to the enquiry page and select the access request option. Include the name of the category and a brief explanation of your purpose to help the support team review your submission.
Using the Enquiry Form
The enquiry form is designed for general questions as well as access requests. Providing as much relevant context as possible in your message will help the support team respond more precisely and efficiently.
Understanding Scope
The platform organises information within a defined scope. If a category or record you expect to find is not present, it may fall outside the current scope. The platform details page provides further information about what the service currently covers.
